The Ithacan Philanthropic Society in association with the Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne and Victoria  (GOCMV) is delighted to host the launch of the English edition of

THE EMBODIMENT OF A DISTANT HOMELAND
The history of the Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne and Victoria from its foundation to 1972

The publication chronicles the historical journey of the GOCMV from its establishment in the late 19th century until the early 1970s, focusing on the social, cultural, and economic conditions that shaped the immigration and settlement of thousands of Greeks in Australia. 

The IPS has a historic association with the GOCMV with early Ithacans involved in its establishment. 
Members and friends are cordially invited to attend the launch to be held at Ithaca House at 2.00 pm on Sunday 27 October.
